At the recent Canton Fair, our booth welcomed an international buyer specializing in high-end chocolate gifting lines. While traditional folding cartons and standard rigid slipcases were abundant across the exhibition floor, what caused this buyer to halt and engage with our team was a specific structural prototype on our display: our custom twist-top candy box.

 

The buyer was scouting for an innovative structural upgrade for their upcoming seasonal product rollout. Intrigued by the fluid mechanics of our design, the buyer left with our twist-top box prototype to initiate internal executive reviews in Europe. And from the bag, they took out a box of the exquisite chocolates they had collaborated on and presented it to us, our entire team is extremely happy.

The Engineering Behind the Twist-Top Mechanism

 

The twist-top packaging structure operates on precision die-cutting geometry and torsional folding physics. When a consumer rotates the top or base of the box, the paper facets smoothly glide and lock into place, opening the packaging like a blooming flower.

 

From an OEM/ODM manufacturing standpoint, this interactive structure is exceptionally unforgiving. If the scoring lines or creasing depths are off by even a fraction of a millimeter, the increased friction will cause the paperboard to jam, bind, or tear during assembly.
